So my parents were debating a trip to Texas to see my dad’s mom and sister and asked if I wanted to go. We haven’t seen them since my brother’s wedding in July of 2011 so of course I was excited about it! The problem was I had just started my new job and I was afraid of not having enough time off built up but luckily I did! Woohoo! So we started planning the 4.5 day journey. Here’s the route we take…
We decided to break in up into 2 days drive so Landon wouldn’t get tired of riding. Plus we were leaving after work and none of us could drive all night after an 8 hour work day.
I packed as many small toys as I could find and put them into a little tub to keep close. I also packed books, puzzles, coloring book/crayons, movies, etc. He hasn’t been on a trip this long since he was 9 months so I wanted plenty of entertainment.
The night before we left (Feb 13th) I had to get everything packed and ready and Landon’s Valentine’s Day party was the next day so Jason helped me! Bless his heart!
He also gave me my gift! Love them!
His help was great because I was SO overwhelmed! I was able to get everything done and loaded up and get in bed at a decent hour!
Landon’s party went great! He got a huge bag full of goodies from his classmates.
After his party my dad went and picked him up early so they could have some Landon/Pawpaw time and kind of wear him out a little. I also picked up some Dramamine because he tends to get car sick and it’s so unexpected and it seemed to work very well!
Reading me a story and telling me what all the animals were.
Coloring Mimi and picture to give her once we got there!
We stopped half way and spent the night in a hotel, got up the next morning, ate some breakfast, packed up and finished the trip. We watched a lot of Bubble Guppies which are his favorite right now and he did great! I was one proud mama!
Everyone was waiting on us once we got there!
First thing we had to show Mimi was our choo choos. He was so happy to be out of the car and be able to play.
Uncle David too him outside to walk around. Of course he went straight to the water.
They became best friends when he revved up the 4-wheeler. That’s Uncle David, Landon, and Shooter (the dog)
That night we had a buffet of different foods for dinner. We were so tired we just wanted to stay in. The next day we spent a lot of our time outside.
That night we went to a restaurant called Two Senoritas for dinner. It’s one of our favorite places to go when we visit.
My dad and his mom (Mimi). We had the best time.
My sweet, sweet baby boy.
Later that night we played Taboo and let me tell you…I have never heard my dad laugh so hard!
The day we got ready to leave we took some family pictures. We didn’t get all the ones we intended to but we did get a couple!

Wish Tanner was in this one. We love our Mimi! So glad we got to visit and that Landon got to spend some time with her.
